Dancing!

What special things do you make time for?

I took the time in 2022 to put my pointe shoes on again after 22 years and dance in the Nutcracker. Being old for this sort of thing, I strained a muscle…less than a week until curtain. In the past I have resisted injuries and blamed my body for being fallible. This time I accepted, slowed down, listened, and loved—and it was so much better. I healed completely, not just my pulled calf muscle, but also my relationship with my body! I am reminded how iterations can lead to a good design: in some small ways I am reliving my high school self, only so much better.

I am thankful for Port Townsend Ballet and all our collaborators for the opportunity to share the joy of dancing with children and adults alike. You can check out our schedule at: SCHEDULE | Mysite (porttownsendballet.com)

Next month we start rehearsals for our spring student showcase, which will be Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. (I don’t expect to be dancing in it.)
